A long time…

May 31, 2010

It’s been a while since we’ve updated our blog… we haven’t disappeared, we’ve just been busy trying to figure out how to best promote our website. Unfortunately we haven’t had much luck, but we will be sending out flyers to various mosques. We’ll also continue to leave flyers with participating Muslim businesses.

We’d like our users to know that we do have some enhancements on the way… we’re not exactly sure when we’ll have these completed, but we’re aiming for July. We are still planning to add the “score report” that we alluded to in our last post back in February. In addition, we will be listing if the user has a beard (male) or wears hijab (female). Lastly, we’ll be adding an “about me” section where users can write a bit about themselves and what they’re looking for. This section will be either be a part of the “open answers”, or there will be a separate “about me” section. Either way, the text will be presented as part of the user’s profile.

We’re also considering adding a section where you can see who has visited your profile… we’ve had a number of users request this particular feature, so we’re thinking about how to best implement that.

Thanks again for your support, and please tell as many people as you can about MarryMeMuslim.

Coming Soon…

February 21, 2010

Based on feedback from some members we will be adding a “score report” that provides additional compatibility information based on sections. For example, when viewing a profile you will see something similar to the following:

Marriage: 72%
Family: 66%
Religion: 84%
etc.

This information will be displayed under the Compare Answers link on the full profile view. We are currently working on this feature and expect to have it completed in the next week or two.

Updated Answers

February 7, 2010

Salaams… based on feedback from some members, we’ve added a new answer choice to a couple of the questions. The updated questions are listed below along with the new answer choice.

Question: If my spouse made enough money I’d stay home (Career section)
Answer: Not sure, it’s hard to say right now

Question: If we have kids, one parent should stay home (Career section)
Answer: Should be discussed by husband and wife

These are the only two questions that we’ve updated at this time, but we are reviewing all the questions and will update answers as needed. If you have any suggestions, please don’t hesitate to drop us a line.

Feedback and Suggestions

January 18, 2010

Salaams… this is our first update this year as we’ve been very busy trying to get advertising partners. InFocus News has been kind enough to post a MarryMeMuslim banner on their site. We’re hoping to get other partners too, insha-Allah. We’re also developing print media that we will be distributing to local mosques, offices, shops, etc.

We’ve received some good feedback lately in regards to the site. Contrary to popular belief certain questions are not matched and are only used to provide additional information and search filters. To reiterate, the following questions are not matched:

  • ethnicity/culture
  • race
  • country/location
  • age
  • sect
  • language
  • height
  • eye/hair color

Answers to these questions are strictly for informational purposes and search filters. We’ll be making some updates to the site to better reflect this.

Any additional questions and/or feedback is always welcome. We are striving to make additional improvements to the site and match questions in the coming weeks/months.

New Picture Policy

December 31, 2009

We’re finding that a numerous members upload pictures but leave them hidden… and we’re not sure if this is because we hide them by default and they just “forget” to make them visible or if they’re intentionally leaving them hidden. So starting today we’ll be displaying pictures immediately after they’ve been processed. If you wish to hide your picture and/or set a passcode, you can go to “Picture Settings” in the “My Account” section of your MarryMeMuslim account.

Please feel free to comment if you have any issues with this change…

More members, new features!

December 30, 2009

Salaams…

We’ve had many new members join the past week and that’s great, but we still need lots more! Here’s what’s been keeping us busy, aside from the advertising…

We recently added a way for members to see how active other members are. Many members send Salaams, but never get a response. Members that don’t respond will have their “response rate” go down, while members that do respond will keep their rate high. This will help new members see which people are actually responding to Salaams and those that aren’t.

You can now see the Salaams you’ve sent. There’s a new section in “My Inbox” where you can view them.

Lastly, search results now display your highest/best match first. This means that the first person in the results will always have the highest number of questions/answers that match you.

Please keep telling your fellow single brothers/sisters about MarryMeMuslim!

It’s been a while…

December 23, 2009

It’s been a while since we made our last update. Since then we have re-introduced the messaging feature. The main difference is that you can only message “accepted” members. We have been working hard to get the word out, that has taken time away from our Facebook application and other enhancements. We will be adding a poll asking members if they would find a Facebook application useful. This will give us a better idea as to how we should prioritize it.

We have created a MarryMeMuslim MarryMeMuslim Facebook page, please join to show your support of our website.

We are continuing our advertising efforts… it’s very challenging due to the fact that our site is free. Please help spread the word by telling your friends and/or family members about MarryMeMuslim.

A few more enhancements on the way…

December 12, 2009

Salaams…

We’re making a few changes to your MarryMeMuslim accounts. For starters we’ll be bringing the messaging feature back, but you will only be able to send/receive messages to/from your accepted members. This should prevent people from sending unwanted messages (spam) to other members.

We will also be making some improvements to the “Accepted Members” interface. You’ll be able to request photos and see when the member accepted you. We’ll do our best to add these enhancements over the next few days.

Please keep telling people about the site… we need more members!

Pictures

December 5, 2009

Salaams…

We just added a new search filter for pictures. If you want to see only those profiles that display a picture, you can select this (new) option. It’s the last option in the search pane. Please keep in mind that some members have pictures, but choose to hide them or protect them using a passcode. This filter only shows profiles that are displaying their pictures. Check it out!

Not much else going on… we’re still focused on advertising and working on the Facebook application. We’re also working on starting “match of the week” e-mails where we use your answers and find the closest match for you based on your most recent search criteria.

Delete Picture

November 30, 2009

One of our new members requested the ability to delete their picture. We always figured that hiding/displaying and changing your picture would be sufficient but we realize that being able to delete your picture is an option other members may wish to utilize. So, we went ahead and added the feature earlier today. If you now go to Picture Settings in your MarryMeMuslim account, you’ll see a button that allows you to delete your picture. You can still hide/display your picture and set a passcode. The delete option is something new.

As always, please feel free to suggest new features. We want this site to be useful to its members and little things like this are easy for us to add if members find them useful. Please tell your friends/family about the site. New members are joining every day but we still have a long way to go!
